![]() Keeping on top of your Amazon selling fees is the starting point to running a successful business on Amazon. So, what will your profit be once Amazon has taken their cut? You have to hand it to Amazon; it’s been in business for over a decade, but never charged a listing fee. So, what does Amazon charge you? Here’s a breakdown of Amazon selling fees for third-party sellers: Amazon.com selling fees for third-party sellers Professional Selling Plan Individual Selling Plan Monthly subscription fee $39.99 no Per-item fee no $0.99 on each item sold Referral fee Sellers pay the greater of the category-specific referral fee or per-item minimum referral fee. The first is usually 15% of the sale price, while the minimum referral fee can be $0, $1 oe $2. Variable closing fee For each media item that is sold, sellers also pay a standard fee of $1.35. The Specifics: 1. Monthly subscription charges depend on the marketplace. They’re $39.99 on Amazon.com for Pro Merchants (sellers with a professional selling plan) with over 35 sales per month. The per-item fee also depends on the venue. Amazon.com individual sellers pay $0.99. Referral fees are based on product category. Amazon will charge whichever of these two is higher for each item: a. Referral Fee as a percentage of sale price. It ranges from 6% to 20% (45% for Amazon devices), but it’s usually 15%. Minimum Referral Fee of either $0 or $1. ![]() Jewelry and watches are the only two categories with a rate of $2. E.g.: You’re listing items in the Everything Else category for over $6.67. Amazon will charge you 15% of the sale price, not the $1.00 minimum referral fee, because 15% of 6.67 is over $1. Variable Closing Fees apply strictly to books, music, videos, DVDs, video games, consoles and software (BMVD products), and they will vary according to category, shipping destination, and the type of shipping service used. So, how much would it cost you to sell on Amazon? Let’s take two examples. Pro Merchant Amazon Selling Fees for a book As mentioned above, an Pro Seller would be charged a referral fee and variable closing fee. In our example, the referral fee is $4.07 (15% of $27.13) and the variable closing fee is $1.35 summing up to $5.42. So, for a sale price of $200 and assuming the shipping credit covers transportation costs, sellers would have to hand over $31.35. Pro Merchant Toy Sale on Amazon US In the case of this toy sale on Amazon US, there’s a referral fee of $9.89 (15% of the product charge and shipping cost), shipping credit and monthly subscription aside. But here’s how much you would pay to Amazon if you were to sell this product for the lowest current price on Amazon: 183.91 plus 5.99 shipping: The product falls under the Electronics category where the referral fee is 8% for price + shipping (on amazon.com) Therefore if you sell the product for that price you would need to pay Amazon a commission of $15.19 plus the $0.99 per item fee, in a total of $16.98. Besides the Amazon fees you need to include your shipping cost into the pricing. Feel free to use the Fulfillment by Amazon Revenue Calculator for other pricing calculations. With this in mind, the other option that you have is to go ahead and list it on E-bay if the process on Amazon feels a bit more complicated. Thank you, Julia •. Individual accounts (as the name suggest) is for people who want to sell only a few items on Amazon. Professional accounts are designated to businesses and the fee structure looks like this: One monthly subscription fee $39.99/month + selling fees: – referral fee on each item sold. For the Health & Personal Care Category the fee is 15% (with a min of $1). Please note that you first need to get approved in this category. If you want to use Amazon’s fulfillment option (and store your items at Amazon) more fees would apply. Maria SellerEngine Team •. I have a children’s book and want to sell a lot of them. I have a website and could sell them through it, but am considering Amazon because of shipping and fulfillment. I understand I need a Pro account and will pay $39.99 and then a 15% per item (if I have that sum correct)? How do they factor in shipping? Do I pay a fee on the amount paid for item plus shipping? Where does Amazon recoup their shipping cost if someone ships by Prime? My ultimate goal is to save money/increase profit margins and need a great resource. Any advice would be wonderful •. Hi Brett, Thank you for writing in. I am glad you find our blog useful. It is indeed best to create a Pro Merchant account. For your Pro Merchant Account you will pay the $39.99 per month plus the Referral Fee per item and the Variable Closing Fee. Shipping Credit for books is standard on Amazon.($3.99 for domestic standard shipping and increases based on the selected option). The customer will pay the shipping credit and you will then be credited back by Amazon. In case your shipping costs are higher than the shipping credit set up by Amazon, you definitely have the option to factor them into your price. The Referral Fee is calculated in relation to the price only for books, so it does not account for the shipping credit. Aside from the referral fee you will also have the Variable Closing Fee that has also a fixed amount of $1.35 for each sold item. With regards to Prime, you will not be able to offer books with free shipping when fulfilling the order yoursel; you will have the standard shipping credit required. If you decide to fulfill your orders via Amazon (FBA) then you wilL not have to worry about shipping as it will be handled by Amazon and included in the fees you will have to pay to Amazon(monthly storage fees, order handling, pick and pack, weight handling fees). If you have further questions and need help with your Amazon business please don’t hesitate to write us an Thank you, Iulia, SellerEngine Team •. Hi Jason, Thank you for reading our blog and for sending your question. If you are not a Professional Seller (meaning you have signed up for the Individual account and you do not pay the $39.99 fee per month to Amazon) it means that you will have to pay the Per Item fee as well as the Referral fee. The Amazon platform puts you in contact with a large number of buyers so you will need to discover the perks of it beyond the fees that they are charging. Please let me know if you have other questions and we’ll be happy to help. Thank you, Julia SellerEngine Team •. Hi Salman, Thank you for following our Blog! We are happy to hear that this article proved useful for you. To clear our the confusion here, the referral fee is calculated based on your item’s price; so in this case “your price” is the base out of which the referral fee is calculated, namely the $249 value will be considered when calculating the referral fee. Please let me know if this is clear and if you have any other questions or concerns and we’ll be happy to help. Happy Holidays, Julia SellerEngine Team •. Hello Avani, I’m glad we can be of some help. The first thing that you need to do is check if your product is already on Amazon. To sell a product that is available in the Amazon catalog, you need to match it to the existing ASIN. However, if your product is not in the Amazon catalog, you will have to create a new ASIN. ASIN stands for Amazon Standard Identification Number. Any product on Amazon has an associated ASIN (for most books the ASIN coincides with the 10 digit ISBN). If your product is not available on Amazon you need to create a new catalog page for it, but in order to do that you need a UPC code. Once you create the page Amazon will automatically assign an ASIN to your page. More info on how to check if your product is on Amazon or on how to create a page can be found. Thank you for the great information! I also applaud your responses to other’s inquiries. I was considering expanding out to Amazon with some of my sales and found your article while firing up the ole Googler. Your article + answers pretty much let me know that Amazon may not be suited for me. ( I assume) I currently list on Ebay and other sites and was shocked to find out Amazon has 6% – 50% fee’s. A 15% average is double at times what I pay anywhere else, and since you actually don’t know what they’ll charge (could be up to 50% if the so wanted without warning) the guessing or hoping they won’t charge more seals the deal that i’ll not be trying Amazon until i do far more research. (I can’t take that kind of chance since my items are high end) While Ebay’s fee’s and percentages can give Einstein a run for his money figuring out, It still falls far short of 15% + fee’s in the long run. The average breakdown on Ebay (For my category as a premium store) is 4%-9% of the initial $50.00, plus 6% of the next $50.01 to $1,000.00, plus 2% of the remaining final sale price balance ($1,000.01 to final sale price) Or in English, I average around 4% to 8.5% of the final total sale price in total fee’s. That percentage also includes any listing enhancements I add to make my listings more attractive and easier to find. (did that hurt your brain? Lol) On Ebay the Basic store fee is $24.00 / month ($19.00 if paid annually) compared to Amazon’s $39.00 I pay $59.00 (only $10.00 more) for the Premium store which places my items in front of most others, gives me lots of listing upgrades and perks as well as 1000 free listings per month. (buy it now etc) Plus unlike Amazon, The premium lowers my final percentages to just 4% to 9% Maximum. I can convert any listing to an Auction if there seems to be a lot of interest in the item – which has doubled and even tripled what I was originally selling the item for in the past as Ebay (unlike Amazon that i’m aware of in researching) gives me a real time viewing activity, click stats, searched item stats. If a potential customer clicks to view more information on one of my items I can get a notice. I can also have more than one listing for the same item, Set each item up differently with different listing enhancements, then compare the two (or more) to see the activity difference so I know which is the better enhancement or ad so that I can adjust my product showing accordingly to match the current trend. The most important information I get on Ebay is targeted “keywords” that users have entered in searching that led the potential customer to my item from both Ebay search and outside search engines (Google, Bing etc) If Amazon has this type of statistic information for stores/sellers I haven’t found it yet in researching so far. Since some items I list are higher end ticket items, it would break down closer to this in my category If i’m understanding your article on Amazon fee’s (Ebay percentages vary by category) This is based on what i currently actually pay in fee’s on a $7,000 Item I normally sell vs what i’m reading here. Please correct me if i’m wrong. Ebay: $268.00 – $324.00 per $7,000 item I sell +$59.95 per month Premium store fee’s (including all listing enhancements) Amazon $1050 + Listing charges (if applicable) + $39.00 / month (i’m unaware if Amazon has listing enhancements) From What I gather, If i sell 1 (one) high end item per month it would break down to the following based on a $7,000.00 item sale Amazon: $1089.99 Ebay: $327.00 – $383.00 Granted this is based on 1 (one) Sale per month, But if a seller has a total of the same dollar amount in a month as I sell for one item, would it not add up to the same figures? IE: $7,000 a month in sales – Ebay $327.00 to $383.00 vs Amazon $1089.00 Unless i’m missing something there is no comparison between the two in relation to higher end items in terms of sale costs, and I would venture to say that the percentages wouldn’t make sense on lower end items either at those rates. Since i include free shipping that’s not a factor either. Maybe i missed something entirely, ( it’s 7:28am, snowed in, and first cup of coffee! Lol) or maybe Amazon is for people that need more exposure with their items unlike mine which are specialty items that I don’t have to advertise because the people that want them actually come looking specifically for them. – That could be the difference i’m guessing, that the people are paying extra for exposure to more people or just need a “Store” to sell an item for a set price. The other advantage to Amazon over Ebay that I can attest to, is Ebay’s search can be a nightmare! Even when choosing categories it will show you items not even closely related to what you’re looking for so you have to be wise in keyword placement and use to allow customers to find you. I truly loved your article, You’re very informative! The breakdown is fantastic and love the great way that you have helped others with questions! If i’m missing something, please let me know. (sorry for making a book out of a question lol) Thanks in advance! Hi, Thank you for your comment John! I am glad you find our articles interesting and you are reading our blog. Your extensive comparison between Amazon and E-bay was interesting to read. We’ve created this article precisely for e-commerce owners to get a good understanding on what the fees are if they wish to start selling on Amazon. I can understand that the differences in fees are important when it comes to different platforms but it ultimately comes down to making an assessment and weighting in on the costs as well as on the rest of the details when choosing a platform over another. Amazon for instance is leading when it comes to being customer centric and having clear and strict policies to protect its customers as well as help sellers offer the best customer experience. E-bay on the other side, same as you explained, has smaller fees which for some business is a stronger point. Ultimately both platforms have their target audience both in terms of customers and in terms of sellers, so having an analysis that comprises costs as well as the perks of the platform is important before taking a decision. Since your products are very targeted, with no or little competition and your buyers know exactly what they are looking for, then your rationale can be applied. Another approach would be to try the Amazon platform as well and see if the extended database of buyers, the tools that Amazon offers to help sellers is balancing those costs. One detail that we’ve missed to address in the post is that they categories with the highest referral fees are Kindle, Fire TV and Amazon devices (with a 45% referral fee) and then the watches and jewelry come next with 20%, whereas most of the other categories are in the 15% and less referral fee. Amazon as well as E-bay is ultimately a platform that brings your products in front of millions of users and lets you benefit from the brand awareness they built over so many years (think of it like this: if you buy a watch on amazon or on e-bay and your friend asks you where did you buy it from, you will most likely say I bought it on Amazon/e-bay and not I bought it from seller x on amazon/e-bay). With regards to your calculations, on the Amazon side they are correct and if you want to base your business decision of entering a new platform on that, then that it is perfectly fine, else you can research more into the non-monetary advantages and disadvantages of each platform. I hope this helps. Thank you, Julia SellerEngine Team •. I’m having a little difficulty calculating which option is going to be best for me (if any of the options actually are) I have a Skydiving site and am looking at selling some of the helmets on Amazon. They are £215 and £325 per unit – I’ll assume that only 3 of each per month are sold to begin with using the Amazon platform. Can you tell me what this would cost me using the Amazon platform if I dispatch these items to the buyer directly, so not using the FBA system (which I understand is slightly more expensive) Thanks Nice blog btw ? •. Hi Blair, Thank you for following our blog and for your comments. The Amazon platform would be a good choice since your offer is brought forward to a lot of customers. However, it is ultimately your decision based on the costs and the advantages and disadvantages weighted in. With regards to the costs it would imply to sell on Amazon, those would be as following: $39.99/month (this is the pro merchant fee) and the 12% referral fee (the helmets are part of the Automotive Parts and Accessories so a 12% referral fee applies). I hope this helps! Thank you, Julia, SellerEngine Team •. Hi Sean, The portable sauna should be listed under the Health and Personal Care category. The Referral fee for this category is 15%. Please keep in mind that this category is gated and available to Professional Sellers only. Health & Personal Care category requirements: – Seller must sell on Amazon as a Pro Merchant. – Seller must provide Amazon with acceptable documentation and other information they request about the products you intend to sell. After you request approval to sell in the Health & Personal Care category, they will contact you with additional information. – All Health & Personal Care products must be new. Amazon does not allow any used products. Hope it helps. SellerEngine Team •. Hi Manuel, Thank you for your question and for following our blog! Amazon will automatically deduct the payment from your credit card that you have attached to your Amazon selling account. It’s important to make sure you always have sufficient funds on the credit card. Depending on your bank, you can receive a notification from your bank whenever a charge went through on your account. Please let me know if this helps and if you have other questions or concerns and we will be happy to help. Thank you, Iulia SellerEngine Team @OlteanuJulia •. We are professional manufacturer of womans handbags and want to sell on Amazon but have some questions. We will be glad to take some explanations. 1.We want to sell professionally. And we understand that this category is available only for professionals. So we should pay 39.99$/month. But from what time should we pay before we will start working or after month of selling? Also it is hard to understand some cases. For these category we need to pay 15% per item but we have question: from what sum should we pay these%?May be it will be understandable if we ask you to understand us from the example? For example, we want to sell handbag for 50$/per item. But don’t understand what will be better and how will be percentage to Amazon. We ask you to clarify two examples: 2.We send 200 bags to Amazon storage for example and in this case we should pay delivery cost to Amazon warehouse from Belarus (we are from Belarus) then we should pay another monthly storage fee (approx. 0.24$/per item), then we should pay another fee for repacking and delivery from Amazon warehouse to final customer(approx. 5.35$).So in these case we need to pay 7.5$(15% from 50$) of referral fees+delivery fees to our transport company that deliver to Amazon warehouse+monthly storage fee to Amazon per item (0.24$/per item per month)+5.35$ to Amazon for delivery to final client. So we will receive 50$-7.5$-0.24$-5.35$=36.21$-XXX$ (for delivery to Amazon’s warehouse from Belarus). Are we right in these calculations? 3.If yes, there is another question:if some items will be not popular and it will be on Amazon warehouse we don’t want to pay monthly storage fee (0.24$). Is it possible to deliver it back or make a big discount on these item to sell it anyway? 4.Second example is that we will send our handbag to final client(customer) from Belarus not from Amazon warehouse.50$-7.5$=42.5$-XXX$ (for delivery from Belarus to final client). Are we right in these calculations? 5.Can we sell our handbags at amazon.com,amazon.de,amazon.fr,amazon.es,amazon.co.uk,amazon.ca,amazon.it simultaneously? In this case we need to use each Amazon’s warehouse?I mean if it will be at amazon.it we need to use italian warehouse, if amazon.fr we need to send our goods to french warehouse? Or Amazon has one storage for whole european market? Also interesting what kind of cost will be for delivery from Amazon warehouse across EU.Will it be different as in the USA (5.35$) 6.What kind of documents we need to start working with Amazon?Certificates, codes, etc.? We are not EU country. 7.Will Amazon give us selling statistic in real-time or only once a month, for example? 8.As we are not EU country can Amazon send us our proceeds to our belarussian bank?We have account in $ on our territory, or they can not because $ is not our national currency and we are not in their converter list? Sorry for a long story, but we want to clarify this situation before we start. Hi Alex, Thank you for sending over your questions and for following our blog. Please excuse my late reply here. I’ll address your questions one at a time: 1. In order to start selling on Amazon as a Pro Merchant you will need to set up your account as such. The charges will be processed at the moment you set up your Pro Merchant account and afterwards you will be enabled to start selling on Amazon. Yes, the calculations you made are correct. To help you get accurate calculations you can use the Amazon FBA calculator. It is possible to ask for a removal shipping from Amazon back to Belarus. However, this can prove costly so you can decide to sell them at a cheaper price. Both options that you have suggested are possible but you will need to calculate which one is cheaper. Yes, the calculation is correct. Same as above you can use the for this scenario as well as for the FBA scenario to see them in parallel. Yes, you can definitely sell your items on all venues. You will need a seller account for US and one for Europe. (in Europe you have what we call a unified account option – namely, you open just one seller account and you are enabled to list your items on all European venues. Amazon will store the items at a central warehouse from where they will be delivered depending on the region/country you get orders from) 6.You can check out your eligibility to sell on Amazon. Belarus is one of the counties that is eligible. You will need to be a resident of the country, have a local phone number and an internationally chargeable credit card. Once you set up your Amazon selling account you will have access to a lot of reports and dashboards and you can configure them to check out your sales on a daily basis or monthly depending on the way you want to run your business. You will need to have an internationally billable bank account. Please let me know if my answers were clear. We have an inhouse service for either coaching where we can answer any questions you may have or take over certain processes from you, as well as an International Expansion service where we help you set up your Amazon account. You can read more about our services in the links below: I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you, Julia SellerEngine Team •. Dear Lulia, Thank you for your complex reply. But we have only one question that not clearly understand for us.I mean point 8. At Amazon we found interesting rule: “Disbursements can only be made in the home currency of the country where the bank account is located. For example, if your bank account is located in the UK, then disbursements can only be made in GBP, even if your bank account is capable of accepting deposits in both GBP and EUR currencies”(). According this situation as we are from Belarus and we have bank account in dollars, why Amazon can send us money only in our national currency(belarussian rubles), not in dollars as we have account also in dollars? Best regards, Alex •. Hi Alex, I am happy my answers were of help. With regards to your question at no. 8, you will need to have a local bank account in the country where you have your Amazon account. For US, you will need to open a local bank account where you will receive all the payments. From that bank account you will then be able to repatriate your money in your home bank account and home currency. We work with World First for this part of the process of having a local bank account. They are approved by Amazon and they can help you with setting up your bank account in the country where you want to open your Amazon business. You can check out more on their website In addition, we have created a series of article where we decribe step by step the process of opening an Amazon selling account and what you need to prepare and think of. You can find our articles in the,, and. Please let me know if this answers your question. Feel free to share other questions here or via our e-mail. Thank you, Julia SellerEngine Team @OlteanuJulia •. Hi Can you help me clarify the pricing break down? We are interested in listing some of our industrial material handling products on Amazon and wondering how much would it cost to sell. – Does the product fall under “Industrial & Scientific” category? – What’s the referral fee for this category? – Does the referral fee apply to both item cost and shipping cost, or just item cost alone? Correct me if I’m wrong for the following scenario: Let’s say the product sells for $100 and shipping is $20. For each sale transaction, are we looking at $0.99 + $15 (15% of referral fee)? So customer pays $120 in total, we keep $104.01? Thank you in advance! Hi Suki, Thank you for following our blog and for submitting your questions. I’ll answer them one at a time: – Yes, I think the best category to sell your products in is the “Industial and Scientific” one. However, you could use a couple of keywords that best describe the items you want to sell or how they are called and do a quick search on Amazon to observe in which category do other sellers sell similar products. You can as well check the subcategories of the category to make sure it fits in there. Please note that this is a category for which you need to get approved to sell in. – The referral fee would be 12%. You can also check this for reference. – The referral fee on US applies to the sell price + shipping. – Your rationale is correct just that the referral fee will be 12% (applied to price + shipping – $14.4). Yes, the customer will pay 120 and your net revenue will be $105.6. Let me know if this helps. Thank you, Julia SellerEngine Software @OlteanuJulia •. Hello, Thank you for writing in and sharing your comment. If you wish to close your Professional Amazon account what you need to do is open a case with Amazon and mention that you request to close your account. Amazon will send you a list of things you need to do in order to get this done (among which is removing your inventory, solving all pending orders and waiting for 90 days to get any incoming payments as well as any remaining AtoZ claims). I hope this helps. Thank you, Julia SellerEnigne Team •. Hello, Akash! When a customer makes a purchase Amazon takes the shipping fee at the time of the sale. A ‘Variable Closing Fee’ is deducted from the shipping fee before Amazon passes the rest onto you as postage credit (i.e. The money you use to pay for the actual posting of the item). The VCF applies to all media products (books, music, video, blu-ray & DVDs). If you are using FBA you will still need to pay a VCF on media products. However you do not receive postage credit from the sale as you are not posting the item yourself. To check Amazon UK variable closing fees, please check the link below: I hope this helps, Roxana SellerEngine Team •. Dear sirs, Can you help me? 1.Where can I found official rules of selling at Amazon Europe for professionalls? 2.I tried to register at Amazon but my country (Belarus) was not in the list of countries that can trade at Amazon. But its seem to me that Belarus was in list. I am interesting to trade at Amazon Europe not in the USA.So help me please with the rules to understand how to register in the right way. Each company have its rules but in Amazon I didnt foiund one document that I can download and read. All rules around all site(( Thanks Romeo •. How can Amazon charge more than the item I sold? I sold an item for a dollar (a book). There’s $4 for S&H. Amazon took $3.50 in fees. It doesn’t seem right that they can just take from the S&H like that–and way more than 50% of the combined sale price to boot. I didn’t want to sell on Amazon. I liked half.com, but it’s closing. So I moved all my stuff here, and I am not happy with this huge chunk they’re taking from me. With them cutting into the S&H, it basically will be at my own expense to sell these items. Thanks for reaching out to us and for reading our blog post. As many seasoned Amazon sellers have learned, there is quite the learning curve to selling on this marketplace. Amazon has many policies and rules that are complex and sometimes hard to grasp and follow. But there is also a reason why they are the most successful eCommerce platform ever. In fact, a majority of online sales come from Amazon. So getting a piece of that pie is possible. You’ll just need to do it within Amazon’s rules and restrictions. The reason we wrote this particular blog is we discovered many new Amazon sellers jumping in feet first, without looking into these fees and rules and policies first only to experience similar disappointment. There is a cost to doing business, and with Amazon, it’s these fees that you’ve run into. Once you are aware of those fees, there are a few things you can do to alleviate selling at a loss: 1. Research the viability and profits on your products before you list them on Amazon. If Amazon’s fees for selling that item cut into your profits too much or would result in selling items at a loss, those likely aren’t the right products to list. A tool like can help with this sort of research. If you are using an automated repricing tool, ensure that each item has a lower limit that ensures won’t lose money on the sale. This is best done with tools like, that automatically include all Amazon fees and commissions into the Minimum Price for items so you can take the guesswork out of what that ‘break even’ price point is for each item you’re selling. Only you will be able to determine if selling on Amazon is worth it for your business but considering the above points may help you continue selling on Amazon without the disappointment of losing money from some of the ‘behind the scenes’ fees you weren’t initially aware of. I hope that helps. Let us know if you have any other questions or if we can help out any further. I have a lot of older video games that my kids no longer play. Because of the age and lack of popularity of some of these games, their value is very low when looking at what other sellers have listed them for in a used condition. Correct me if I’m wrong here; to list a game for sell on Amazon, I would be charged $.99 + $1.35 ($2.34) in fees regardless of the listing price? Without any consideration for the% fee for the category that the item falls into, you would theoretically make $0 on your item in this scenario? Hey Jason, Thanks for your question. In the scenario you described, you are correct, it doesn’t sound like that would be an item worth selling on Amazon. Not every item will fit the criteria for being a profitable item on Amazon. It’s up to each seller to do this research before listing items to ensure what they do list will bring in enough profit to make the sale worthwhile. You could always try other approaches with items like those. Such as eBay, trade-in at a video game store, or donation. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any follow up questions. Thanks again and have a great week! Hi Jason, Thanks for your question. Unfortunately the answer is complicated, as there are a lot of factors that contribute to the cost of either decision. We’d need to know a bit more about your business, and what kind of items you’re selling before we could give you an educated opinion. In the meantime, a few things to keep in mind are * Amazon charges different fees depending on how long your items sit in their warehouse, so if you have slow moving inventory it might be more cost effective to use MFN. * That said, since you will be able to offer Prime shipping with FBA you have a better chance of winning the buy box, and Prime customers are more likely to choose your item. That could result in a sales boost. * Since Amazon takes care of most of the customer service for FBA orders, you’ll save time that you’d have normally spent answering customer emails. * MFN sellers have more control over the packaging of their products, so if you’re worried about items being damaged in transit, or if your items are fragile, then this might be a better option. Since there are so many different factors that contribute to the decision, we would be happy to give you a call to go over them in more detail. If you write to us at we can reach out to you to answer any further questions you may have. Thanks, Vanessa SellerEngine Services Team •. Hi Maria, Regarding an earlier question (Oct. 28, 2016) If an Amazon buyer cancels an item prior to shipping you stated that Amazon will not charge fees (Allreferral, variable and fixed fees?) with either a cancellation or a refund. So that I am clearif I ship a book to a buyer and the buyer wants to return the book for a refund (within the return policy), Amazon will reimburse all their seller’s fees to me? And if so, how is that accomplishedwill they credit my credit card account? Hello Victor, good to hear from you again. To reiterate, no fees of any kind will be taken for cancellations or refunds. If a buyer returns a product and you fully refund his money, you’re getting all seller fees back. If doing FBA, Amazon would not refund the pick and pack fees, though. All these fees are cumulated in the disbursements you’re getting. Details should be visible in the section of your account called Payments. Feel free to email us if you need further help or have a particular example you need to discuss. Before you distribute your ebook, you’ll have to make a big decision: how to price the ebook. Unfortunately, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer, but the following is what you need to know to make an informed decision. Factors that affect pricing an ebook include royalty percentages, your ebook’s length and perceived quality, and the prices of other books in your genre. Let’s break that down. Royalty Percentages You make a royalty on each purchase of your ebook. Are a percentage of the ebook’s retail price, and that percentage changes depending on the online retailer and the list price. This chart illustrates the differences, with the percentages indicating how much of the price you’ll receive: List Price Amazon.com BN.com Apple iBookstore Other Retailers $0.99-$2.98 35% 40% 70% 40%-55% $2.99-$9.99 70% 65% 70% 40%-55% $10-$199.99 35% 40% 70% 40%-55% Please note: These are for example only. Other factors, such as delivery costs and the country or territory an ebook is purchased in, affect your actual royalties. If your book on Amazon is $2.99, you get 70% of $2.99, or about $2.09. At the same price, you’d receive $2.09 from an iBookstore sale, $1.94 from a BN.com sale, and between $1.20 and $1.64 for other retailers. And since you’re probably wondering, we should point out that by distributing your book to these sites, you have to agree to sell the book for the same price everywhere, so you can’t sell your book for $2.99 on Amazon and more on BN.com to make up the royalty percentage difference. Because Amazon and BN.com provide higher royalties for books priced between $2.99 and $9.99, this is good price range to stay in. In fact, the most commonly purchased ebooks range from $2.99 to $3.99, with $3.99 being most popular. At the same time, though, it’s important to realize that pricing your ebook higher means you could make more money selling fewer books. Let’s suppose you sell 100 ebooks. Here’s what your approximate royalty would be. (All amounts rounded to the nearest dollar.) List Price Amazon.com BN.com Apple iBookstore Other Retailers $2.99 $209 $194 $209 $120-$160 $3.99 $279 $259 $279 $160-$219 $4.99 $349 $324 $394 $200-$274 $5.99 $419 $389 $419 $240-$329 $6.99 $489 $454 $489 $280-$384 $7.99 $559 $519 $559 $320-$439 $8.99 $629 $584 $629 $360-$494 $9.99 $699 $649 $699 $400-$549 Length and Perceived Quality Readers expect shorter books to be priced cheaper. With fiction and some creative nonfiction (e.g., memoirs, personal essays), this means that ebooks shorter than 50,000 words are generally expected to be priced under $2.99. The word generally is important here because some retailers, like Amazon, attract bargain hunters, while others (e.g., Kobo) don’t. This means an ebook under 50,000 words priced at $2.99 might be considered too expensive on Amazon, but may sell well on Kobo. And if you’re an established author, your built-in fanbase will often be willing to pay more for your books because they know you can deliver. For nonfiction, especially self-help and business books, the length of the book matters less because it’s about the value your content provides. If your ebook is short, but it entirely changes a person’s life or it teaches someone how to make millions, people will be willing to pay a higher price. Longer books should almost always be priced higher. After all, it takes more time and money to write, edit, and publish a longer book, and you should be compensated accordingly. Just keep in mind that going too high as a debut author might mean fewer people take a chance on you. There’s also the psychology of pricing and how it relates to quality. Think: “you get what you pay for.” For example, a reader looking at a 99-cent book and a $2.99-book may go with the more expensive one because she thinks it’s going to be a better (professionally written and edited) book. Still haven’t decided on a price? The next section might help. Your Book’s Genre It’s time for some research! Search for books in your genre and compare ebook prices. How much other authors are charging for their ebooks can narrow the choice for your ebook. Don’t automatically go for the lowest or highest price, however. If you price too low, people might think your book is subpar. If the price is too high, people might not take the leap. Price can also depend on your readership. If you have an established group of people who will buy your book, you might be able to price your book higher within the range of similar titles. If you’d like to establish a readership, however, pricing your ebook lower to gain traffic and new readers through impulse buys might be a better option. How Mill City Press Helps While Mill City Press won’t set your ebook price for you, we’ll provide you with the tools and information you need to price your ebook competitively.

E in perfect isolation. That is to me, artistically speaking, the circumstance of interest; for I have lost myself once more, I confess, in the curiosity of analysing the structure. By what process of logical accretion was this slight 'personality,' the mere slim shade of an intelligent but presumptuous girl, to find itself endowed with the high attributes of a Subject?--and indeed by what thinness, at the best, would such a subject not be vitiated? Millions of presumptuous girls, intelligent or not intelligent, daily affront their destiny, and what is it open to their destiny to be, at the most, that we should make an ado about it? The novel is of its very nature an 'ado,' an ado about something, and the larger the form it takes the greater of course the ado. Therefore, consciously, that was what one was in for--for positively organising an ado about Isabel Archer. One looked it well in the face, I seem to remember, this extravagance; and with the effect precisely of recognising the charm of the probl. ![]() ![]() The Portrait of a Lady - Kindle edition by Henry James. The true professional traders will tell you that market analysis is not a business of predictions but one of probabilities. For many traders, going with the probabilities means analyzing charts to find patterns that reflect what people have done in similar situations in the past. Human behavior and price history tend to repeat themselves, and from the tracks that prices leave on a chart, one can extrapolate the probability of predictable patterns of price behavior. The 10 chart patterns in this e-book are not the only patterns traders visualize on charts, of course. We don’t say much about the various triangles or pennants or flags or rounding bottoms or cups and saucers or gaps or the patterns of the many technical indicators that some traders use to determine entry or exit points or to measure the potential extent of a move. We have just selected 10 chart patterns that we think provide some of the more reliable clues about the probabilities of future price action. You'll note that all of these chart patterns can be spotted rather easily by the naked eye. Naturally, you’ll want a computer to gather the data, generate the charts and compute some indicators quickly on the screen, but the computer in your head is the key to “seeing” these 10 chart patterns that can make you money. With this complimentary eBook by Jim Wyckoff, Futures traders will be able to analyze charts to find patterns that reflect what traders have done in similar situations in the past to gain clues about the probabilities of future price action. This includes patterns like: • The Venerable Trend Line • Support/Resistance • Retracements • Moving Average Crossovers • Collapse in Volatility • Trading Range Breakouts • ‘M’ Tops, ‘W’ Bottoms • Key Reversals, Engulfing Patterns • Dojis • Exhaustion Tails. ||||||||||| You are in Book Details How to Make Money Trading with Candlestick Charts With Examples and Charts from Indian Markets How to Make Money Trading with Candlestick Charts: Balkrishna M.
